The TACPAC Music
TACPAC is a sensory communication resource that uses our specially composed music paired with simple activities and everyday objects. Each piece of music reflects the qualities of the object used, creating a clear link between what the Receiver hears and what they feel.

Why use the TACPAC Music?

The bespoke music is designed to match the object and movement of every activity

The bespoke music is designed to be free from multi-layered musical distraction

Matching the object and movement of every activity
We’ve made the Tacpac music to synchronise with the touch of that activity so that we have one message going out – what they see is what they feel is what they hear.
In Set 2 #5, squelching with bath sponge, you can hear the water splashing, and you can feel the beat as the sponge “plops” onto the skin.
Contrast this with Set 3 #1, brushing with chamois and silk. The chamois is of a much thicker texture to the silk, so the music has a solid, thicker base to match that tactile feeling. The music then changes when the silk is lightly passed over the skin, to reflect that lighter more airy feel. At all times we’re matching the texture of the music to the texture of the tactile experience.

Multi-layered musical distraction
We love modern music and their production techniques that allows for multiple layers of sound. Unfortunately, multiple layers of dynamic equalizers, limiters and compression creates too much distraction and hampers Sensory Alignment.
Modern music production benefits from equalizers, limiters and compression which allows producers to pack every second with music at the optimum volume. Coupled with an infinite library of sounds, a modern production is designed to give you a dynamic, interesting soundscape which for the listener, is varied enough to keep you interested from start to finish. Sensory Alignment doesn’t work like that. We strip away the layers to lock in the space and beat.
Let us demonstrate and show you what not to use during a TACPAC session!
The video starts with clear, simple sounds, perfect for achieving Sensory Alignment. In the second half, we have superimposed more musical layers that muddies and complicates the sound, pushes the perceived volume limits and squeezes every last available audio space that often results in Sensory Overload.
Turn your volume up!
The video is a representation of the problems with multi-layered music and Sensory Alignment.
The first 60 seconds is the original Set 1 #1 activity | The next 60 seconds is the same music but with additional (over emphasised) layers.
Notice the vertical lines in both. They represent layers of music. The more layer density, the less chance of achieving Sensory Alignment.
Also notice the distraction of introducing new instruments to keep the listener interested.
Finally notice greater sudden peaks and increased volumes as the compressor gradually kicks in. This results in less separation of notes and instruments resulting in a wall of sound.
All this makes Sensory Alignment difficult to achieve.
