6 Months of TACPAC

Congratulations using TACPAC for 6 months

Here is a recap of the advice and tips we have sent you and what we recommend for the next 6 months

To change or not to change, that is the question

Should you move to your 2nd TACPAC Set now?

We recommend you spend at least 6 months on each Set with your Receiver/s. This is obviously pro rata and relative to how often you have your TACPAC sessions together.

This timeframe will give you chance to embed the consistent TACPAC practise. Such as:

  • Setting up the TACPAC environment so that it is the same every time.
  • Cueing your Receiver/s in with visual and auditory cues.
  • Using the same scripted language , e.g., ‘time for TACPAC.’

Having spent about 6 months on one Set, your Receiver may then be ready to experience another Set. Be guided by your Receiver. You don’t have to move on yet if they are still enjoying and showing the benefits of the current Set.

New Objects

Maybe show your Receiver some objects, from the other Sets, so they can choose which Set they would like to try next. Or play the music for them to express a preference. You might know that they like Pom Poms , Set 5, or they are very motivated by bubbles, Set 4.

If your Receiver is an experienced Tacpacker, their transition to a new Set can be seamless. If it is the first time they are changing Sets, you may want to spend the first session exploring the objects together and listening to the music. You could model the activities on yourself, to show them.

You can introduce the Set incrementally by doing Activity 1 only, for the first session and then Activity 1 and 2 ,the next session, and so on until you are fully completing the new Set.

Remember to keep the same Giver and the same time and place as far as is practically possible. Maintaining these TACPAC fundamental consistencies will help the change from one Set to a new one.

You will need to establish new body patterns for each of the activities in the new Set, so respond to your Receiver’s communication bids to work out, between you, what the sequence of touch will be for each of the activities. Once you have determined what each body pattern is, make sure you record it on the Body Pattern record sheet

If you are using the Sensory Development Tracker to record the progress of your Receiver/s during their TACPAC sessions, remember to update this with the new Set information.

TACPAC Training

If you originally purchased Essential training with your TACPAC Sets and you haven’t yet had your training day, then booking soon would be a great time to learn and understand the…… behind TACPAC.

How do I record progress in TACPAC sessions?2026-02-04T12:32:34+00:00

Use the  TACPAC Sensory Development Tracker. A free tool to all TACPAC Set subscribers, designed to help you establish baseline levels and record progress of your TACPAC session.

By recording each session with the tracker, you can see what is being achieved, as well as what still needs to be achieved in order to progress your receiver’s sensory communication.

Is the TACPAC music important?2026-02-04T12:33:54+00:00

Yes it has been specially composed. You can’t use any music. The whole point of TACPAC is the alignment of the sensory languages of Touch and Music.  (meaning  of alignment: makes a  balanced and supportive relationship of these two elements to make each one clear, utilised, emphasised and understood. The one needs the other for either to proceed.)

The music has been composed to be aligned with the texture of the objects.

If you use different music, there is no alignment with the touch, and therefore the whole reason for doing a TACPAC session is null and void. You will be doing something – but it won’t be a TACPAC session, with its benefits, insights and communication. Remember TACPAC is about communication, use it to communicate, and you’ll be surprised what it holds for you and your partner. Come on a training to learn how this works.

What is the methodology behind TACPAC?2026-01-26T08:24:11+00:00

TACPAC has a unique contextual framework, following a coherent and logical scheme of work which guides the practise and choices the TACPAC practitioner makes during planning, executing and assessing their practise. The unique framework is based on aligning two sensory languages, and learning to communicate through this new language forged by the partnership. The logical rules and laws of music are combined with the equally logical, instinctive  rules and laws of touch to form a methodology which is easy to understand, and is inviting to use since it is familiar to us all. The specific procedures and techniques lend themselves to further research.

How does TACPAC help with Sensory Processing?2026-01-26T08:24:38+00:00

TACPAC is a sensory communication resource, and as such, the only processing done in a session is sensory. TACPAC works in a partnership of two people of equal status, and these 2 people learn each other’s sensory likes and dislikes, so that communication can be equal and effective. The TACPAC giver will understand that good processing takes place with no distractions, with a reliable and predictable partner, and with the close alignment of the touch to the music. This way sensory processing benefits from seeing, hearing and feeling one message which can then go from giver to receiver.
