Introducing Our Online Courses

Our normal Face-to-Face daily courses are currently on hold due to Covid-19. As a result we have developed a live online course for you to get essential understanding and practical techniques for using TACPAC effectively.

A simple and convenient way to learn about TACPAC

The online course covers subjects similar to our normal Face-to-Face Essentials course including getting the most from TACPAC, sensory overload, the Limbic System and Deep Pressure.

The online course includes activities so having a partner is preferred but not essential.

Pricing

The 4 hour course costs £110 per person.

A typical course lasts 4 hours with a break in the middle.

Along with the online course the price also includes 3 months access to Set 1. Each delegate will be asked to have accessed this set prior to the course date.

We received our TACPAC training online in January 2021. I was dubious, at first, that the material delivered would not be engaging or would not give us enough information to improve our use of TACPAC, however I should not have had any doubts. Hilary’s delivery of the material was clear, and even online, the course had a natural flow, as Hilary’s passion for supporting children with communication difficulties was inspiring. Every member of staff felt they had gained some insightful knowledge and understanding that would help them deliver the TACPAC sessions with more confidence and consistency. I would definitely recommend TACPAC online training, and would love to meet Hilary in person one day to show her the impact this course will have on our school. Day 1 Essential

The perfect introduction to your Tacpac development

This training provides all Tacpackers with the fundamental understanding and skills necessary for the effective delivery of Tacpac. It is an essential training both for experienced practitioners and for those who are starting out from scratch.

During this day you will learn how to get the very most out of what Tacpac can do. You will have hands-on practice and learn how it feels to be a Tacpac receiver. You will also learn how to integrate Tacpac into any part of the curriculum or care plan. And you will gain CPD points.

We look at all the ‘whys’ and ‘hows’ of Tacpac; combining theory and practice into a fun, interactive and stimulating day of training.

Course Content

  • Our sensory system and the role of touch
  • Understanding the importance of the basic beat
  • experiencing the touch and music in an activity, using objects
  • use of thematic material
  • how the limbic system affects our senses
  • The central role of music in Tacpac
  • Sensory communication
  • Sensory overload

After the day you will be able to:

Day 2 Advanced

Consolidating your Tacpac skills

Day 2 Advanced Training Day is for Tacpackers who have done the Day 1 Essential Training, and are using Tacpac in their daily work. Day 2 Advanced Training both improves and boosts your delivery skills. Together we consider the effectiveness of the sensory experience of Tacpac by focussing on the sensory stimuli from the music, processes and functions within the brain and the use of sensory stories with Tacpac.

Course Content

  • Using videos to improve our practice

  • Understand how music affects us

  • The development of the brain and the role of sensory experience

  • The use of Tacpac with sensory stories

The aims of the day are:

  • To develop your understanding of your own sensory responses

  • To develop your powers of observation to enable more effective communication

  • Understand the components of music at a deeper level, enabling you to guide your touch more intuitively

  • Understand the development of the brain and the role of sensory experience
